FurToonia operates on three simple principles: Privacy, Protection and Pleasure.

Privacy...

Your rights:
You have the right to say and do what you want, in private rooms, without the fear of being overheard by unwanted listeners. You have the right to prevent unwanted people from entering or remaining in your private rooms.
Your responsibilites:
Remember that public rooms are not private. (see news public) Do not get intimate in the Tree House, don't expect everyone to get up and leave. They have a right to be there, too. If you don't want people wandering in and out of your private rooms, then lock them, just as you would in RL. You can @lock the exits, or use the lock programs described in 'programs'. If you want to assure yourself that no one is overhearing what you are saying or doing, type '@sweep'. This will list all listeners in your area.
Our responsibilites:
We have provided you with the means to assure your privacy, if you wish to use them.

Protection...

Your rights:
You have have right to keep what is rightfully yours, unaltered, just as created by you.
Your responsibilites:
Obviously, if you don't want someone to take possession of your objects, don't set them CHOWN_OK. Anything left lying around in a public room is likely to be picked up and taken. You would have to use @tel to get it back. If you start your property names with an underscore '_', it's more difficult for someone else to alter them. Make sure that your exits are linked, even if it's to $nothing, or someone else can take them from you.
Our responsibilites:
Well, part of our responsibility is to tell you how to protect yourself, which we just did. We will also watch for illegal programs that alter properties on other player's objects or move them around without the owner's permission.

Pleasure...

Your rights:
You have the right to have fun! Feel free to do whatever you wish, so long as you violate no one else's rights.
Your responsibilites:
Basically, don't interfere with anyone else's enjoyment of the game. If they don't want to play with you, or even speak to you, they don't have to. If you make public areas, don't put in anything too nasty or offensive, unless that's your theme, in which case you should have a very clear warning of what other players can expect to find there. The same warning goes for any descs on yourself or your objects, although offended people should not keep looking at descs that offend them. If someone is bothering you, ignore them. Shut them out of your pages (see page #help) and lock them out of your rooms. If they don't give up, complain to one of the wizards.
Our responsibilites:
We will deal with any and all harrassment in a (hopefully) fair and impartial manner. We have various punishments for offending players, ranging from temporary imprisonment to expulsion from the game. We would appreciate your working out any problems amongst yourselves, before appealing to a wizard. We already have more work than we can handle, building and maintaining the muck..
